This unusual mantis was very willing to pose allowing me sufficient time to set up a tripod and a suitable neutral background. For composition I tried to arrange the insect’s diagonal line favourably and to fill the frame.

Natural light was used in addition to a small LED light used to fill in the shadows.

Shot with Olympus OMD EM-10Mk3 M43 with 60mm M.Zuiko 1:1 macro lens, F8, 640 ISO, 1/15 sec, OEv.

Edited in LR Classic CC, 38% cropped, small adjustments made to exposure, highlights, shadows, whites, blacks, clarity, vibrance, contrast and sharpening.

Noise reduction in Nik Efex Define2.
