RULES AND GUIDELINES

Eligibility

Open to All: The competition is open to photographers of all skill levels, including amateurs and professionals.

Age Restrictions: Participants under the age of 18 must have consent from a parent or guardian.

Participation: Open to participants across South Africa.

Submission Rules

Original Work: All entries must be the original work of the participant.

Submission Limit: Each participant is allowed to submit up to 4 photographs per category.

Format and Size: Photographs must be submitted in JPEG. Width cannot exceed 1920px and height cannot exceed 1080px.

Images are to be named as follows: “your name” – “image title”

Submission Deadline: 31/01/2024 @ 23:59:59

Submission Platform: All submissions are to be submitted via the entry form on this page.

No Watermarks or Identifying Marks: To ensure fairness in judging, photos must not contain watermarks, signatures, or any other identifying marks.

Appropriate Content: Photographs must not contain obscene, provocative, defamatory, sexually explicit, or otherwise objectionable or inappropriate content.

Ethical Photography Standards: Entries must adhere to ethical standards of photography. No harm should come to any subject or environment in the process of taking the photograph.

If no payment has been received and no proof of payment is received, your submissions will not be considered.

Copyright and Usage Rights

Photographer Retains Copyright: Participants retain the copyright of their photographs.

License to Organizers: By entering the competition, participants grant the organizers a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, and display the photographs in relation to the competition.

Photograph Credits: Photographers will be credited whenever their work is used.

Judging and Selection

Blind Judging: Entries will be judged anonymously.

Criteria: Judging will be based on creativity, technical quality, relevance to the category, and overall impact.

Decision Finality: Decisions made by the judging panel are final and binding.

Prizes and Recognition

Prizes: 1st place in each category will be a cash prize and a feature on our club website. 2nd place is a cash prize and a feature on our club website. 3rd place is a feature on our website. Overall winner will receive a cash prize and a feature on our website. Runner-up overall will receive a cash prize and a feature on our club website.

Announcement of Winners: Winners will be announced in February 2024.

Please note that members of the Hibiscus Coast Photographic Society will not be eligible for first place prizes, however are eligible for runner-up prizes. No Judges or adjudicators may take part in the competition.

Disqualification

Breach of Rules: Non-compliance with any of the competition rules may result in disqualification.

Disqualification will not entitle entrants to seek refund for disqualified images.

Notification: Participants will be informed in the case of disqualification by email.

By participating in the Festive Season Photography Competition, entrants agree to abide by these rules and guidelines, ensuring a fair and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.
